Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. We have answers.

Here are some common questions that come up when facing a criminal charge.

Do I need an attorney?
If you have been charged with a crime, you need to talk to an attorney. If you were arrested but released without charges, you should speak to an attorney. We can help you determine whether you really need to hire someone to represent you.
What about public defenders?
If you are unable to afford to hire an attorney, the court may appoint a public defender to represent you for little or no cost. Public defenders are hardworking, professional attorneys. You generally apply for a public defender at your first court appearance.
Should I give the police a statement so they know my side of the story?
If you are the subject or target of an investigation, we strongly recommend that you talk to an attorney before you talk to the police.
